Background of the Study
Training and development programs are essential in enhancing employee efficiency and ensuring that organizations maintain a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving business environment. Cost-based training programs, which focus on improving skills and knowledge while considering financial constraints, have become increasingly popular in organizations seeking to balance employee development with cost efficiency (Ibrahim & Bello, 2023). Nigerian Breweries Plc, as one of the largest beverage companies in Nigeria, has invested in various training programs to improve the efficiency of its workforce and align its human capital with the organization’s strategic objectives.
Training programs, when aligned with organizational goals, can lead to improved employee skills, job satisfaction, and performance (Ogundele & Akinlabi, 2024). However, the effectiveness of such programs is contingent on the costs involved and the outcomes achieved. Cost-based training programs are designed to ensure that training efforts are financially sustainable while still delivering meaningful results in terms of increased employee productivity and organizational performance. This study will assess the impact of cost-based training programs on employee efficiency at Nigerian Breweries Plc, focusing on whether these programs lead to better job performance and productivity.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the widespread implementation of training programs within Nigerian organizations, there is limited research on the specific impact of cost-based training on employee efficiency in the Nigerian manufacturing and beverage sectors. Nigerian Breweries Plc, while actively investing in employee development, faces challenges in ensuring that training programs deliver measurable improvements in efficiency. The study will seek to assess whether the cost of training programs is justified by the improvements in employee performance and productivity, providing insights into the effectiveness of these training initiatives at Nigerian Breweries.
